"Bear" was in care for Botulism, he was very weak and the chances of survival was very low. With two weeks of treatment in our intensive care unit the pelican was then transferred to our pre-release unit for a further week and then released back into his natural habitat.
These two pelicans were brought into care for a few weeks due to fishing tackle injuries to the wing and foot. They both spent a few days in our intensive care unit before being transferred to pre-release for rehabilitation.
The
Gannet was in care for almost a year he was very weak
and had poor muscle tone, with extensive treatment
program including physiotherapy he took off beautifully
heading south. The booby came into care very weak and
with a broken beak, whilst in care the beak grew back.
The booby was recaptured on the day of release as he
could not get off the water to fly off. He has since
been put on a strict diet and given physiotherapy to
strengthen its wing power.
